Budgets Can Find Things
Read time: 2 minutes.
Welcome to the Friday FinTips newsletter, where I provide tips to simplify how you manage money.

The Point
Budgeting is more than just a “fun task” you definitely look forward to every week, it’s a way to find hidden expenses, ways to save, and more!
What I Did
A couple weeks ago I talked about how budgeting creates clarity for the future. I try to take a regular look at what’s happening NOW and see if there are expenses we can cut and additional ways we can save.
There are so many small (or hidden) expenses that you don’t think about or even pay attention to. They add up over time and could be a huge impact. Your budget will help you find them and then you can start eliminating them.
We’ve been cutting a lot of those smaller items over the last several months to save more for big ticket purchases we’d like to make in the next few years.
What You Can Do
Take a look at your budget and see if there’s a particular category where smaller expenses may be hiding. What’s in that “miscellaneous” bucket? Maybe a monthly subscription you no longer use!
Remember that small amounts still count. Putting an extra $10 toward savings or investments still counts as a win.
Find your balance. A lot of people talk about “cutting out the coffee” and saving that money instead. If that coffee brings you joy, get it. But, maybe consider cutting something else instead. Do what what works for you!
That's all for now. Enjoy your weekend!
